A Great Conference Was Had By All...

The 4th Annual AHM Industry Conference,held in May at the Hilton in Parsippany, NJ brought together about 80 attendees to share insights and hear vital information from leaders in the life sciences compliance space. Attendees included representatives from functions such as procurement, IT, meeting services, and compliance. Some came from as far as China to collaborate and to validate AHM solutions for addressing key Life Sciences industry challenges.

The event theme was “Together Toward Compliant HCP Interactions—A Global Affair?” and followed on the heels of AHM’s first Asia-Pac seminar at the Swissotel Grand Shanghai on April 28th. The Parsippany conference was designed to engage, and share customer experiences and best practices in the areas of managing HCP interactions compliance for multiple engagement types including promotional programs. The formal program clearly reflected this and the compliments and positive feedback we received showed that we hit the target.

Over the two days, keynote sessions delivered value and noteworthy points to be mindful of while embracing and preparing for the future:

For example, CEO, Nigel Whitehead offered “Executive Perspective: A Year of Change for HCP Interaction Management,” highlighting significant changes in the compliance landscape and how companies can adapt to the increased scrutiny of their HCP engagement model.

Four industry subject matter experts and AHM customers contributed to a robust discussion on the key contributors to success in managing compliance across all of your meeting and engagements on a global level.

Individual sessions provided drill down in several areas. For example, one of AHM’s Midwest customers discussed International Contracting & Consulting and the struggles that many organizations are having when managing cross border engagements. Adherence to company policies relating to contract templates, fair-market-value (FMV) and review and approval processes is vital yet when consultants are required to engage in countries outside of their own, it can quickly get very complicated. The session looked specifically at how CentrisEventsTM can help organizations navigate these challenges. Similarly, the Speaker Nomination Process was explored by AHM’s Lori Cottrell, Vice President, Account Management, AHM, as she facilitated a panel discussion featuring two other top tier pharmaceutical clients. The discussion centered on establishing best practices for the speaker nomination process.

Main themes found across multiple breakout sessions included AHM elements, including how AHM’s solution delivers:

  • An enterprise technology platform, which can be deployed on a global basis
  • Business agility, risk management and lower total cost of ownership
  • Improving the HCP “customer experience” which enhances their perception of our Life Sciences clients

Results of the inaugural Life Sciences HCP Meetings and Engagements Benchmark Study commissioned by AHM and in partnership with Meetings Net magazine were revealed to our audience and highlighted valuable data depicting trends, struggles and key successes among industry leaders and peers.
